Eric Schoenberg is regarded as one of the finest ragtime and finger style guitarists of the last twenty years. While operating out of the Music Emporium in Massachusetts, Schoenberg released a number of high quality acoustic guitars that were built in conjunction with the C.F. Martin company of Nazareth, Pennsylvania, and individually finished by either Schoenberg or luthier Dana Bourgeois. The Martin facilities assembled the bodies, then final touches were controlled by Schoenberg and Bourgeois. Luthier Bourgeois was involved in the project from 1986 to mid-1990. Luthier T.J. Thompson worked with Schoenberg from the mid-1990s until 1995. Beginning 1997, Schoenberg Guitars are individually handmade by several independent luthiers, including Bruce Sexauer of Petaluna, CA, and Robert Anderson of Victoria, British Columbia. Instruments currently built in Tiburon, CA. Previous production was in MA. Nazareth, PA from 1985 to 1996. Schoenberg Guitars set up a new, separate production facility in MA in 1997.
