HUIPE, BENITO

Benito Huipe started making guitars in his hometown of Paracho (Michoacan) Mexico, but in his youth, he moved to Los Angeles, California, where he perfected his craft during his twenty-two years there. While he makes all types of guitars, he is particularly known for the high quality of his flamenco guitars. In 1994, he returned to live permanently in Paracho, and continues to produce guitars.
Huipe's basic flamenco guitar of cypress and either spruce or cedar sells from $2,500 to $3,500. Huipe's guitars were previously distributed by Casa Talamantes of Albuquerque, NM. It is unknown who is distributing Benito's guitars today.
