Luthier Nick Kukich began the Franklin Guitar Company in Franklin, MI during 1975. Kukich moved the company to Idaho and ultimately to Seattle, WA. It is estimated that he built around thirty-six guitars a year, offered in OM and jumbo body styles. Kukich's acoustic guitars feature Engelmann spruce tops, Indian (or Brazilian) rosewood and koa back/sides, mahogany necks, ebony fingerboards and bridges, and herringbone purfling. Options such as a left-hand configuration, cutaway body design, or inlay/ornamentation was available by customer's specifications. Nick quit producing guitars for apparent health reasons and production of guitars stopped by the mid-1990s.
Instruments previously built in Franklin, MI, Idaho, and Seattle, WA between 1976 and the mid-1990s.
