The Celebrity line of bowl back guitars was introduced in 1983 as a Korean-built entry level introduction to the American-built Ovation line. Celebrity models offer similar design features, and a variety of options as their overseas production saves money on their retail price. The Celebrity trademark was also applied to a number of solid body electrics based on popular American designs.
