Lloyd Baggs, who is best known for his acoustic guitar pickups and electronics, began his career building a variety of acoustic guitars. After developing a friendship with musician Ry Cooder, Baggs convinced him to play his first completed guitar. Takamine made an exact copy of Baggs' guitar with the addition of a pickup and electronics system. Upset by the fact that Takamine copied his guitar, but intrigued by the pickup system, Baggs began spending more time with pickup systems and electronics. He built a few more guitars, but after he developed his LB-6 pickup and began selling it to local guitar stores, Baggs formed his company L.R. Baggs.
Instruments previously produced in the Los Angeles, CA area during the late 1970s and early 1980s.
