The España trademark was used and distributed by Buegeleisen & Jacobson (B&J) in New York, New York. In the early 1960s, B&J started importing acoustic guitars under the España trademark that were made by Landola in Finland. Unlike many distributors at the time, B&J did not own the España trademark - it was actually owned by Landola. To further confuse the matter, B&J marketed España guitars as being produced in Sweden instead of Finland! España acoustic instruments mainly consist of mid-level classical guitars, although they produced dreadnoughts as well. In circa 1963, Landola began building electric guitars and by the late 1960s/early 1970s, thin hollowbody and solidbody electric guitars began appearing with the España trademark. The España trademark eventually disappeared in the mid-1970s - a few years later than many other European factories ceased production. Landola, however, continues to produce guitars in Finland.
Instruments previously produced in Finland by Landola. Distributed in the U.S. by España Guitars (Buegeleisen & Jacobson) in New York, NY.
