The Roland company was founded in Japan in 1974. They are known as one of the premier synthesizer builders in the world today. They started out with keyboards and other synthesizers and later moved on to building amplifiers and guitars. They have produced a number of amplifiers over the years in a different variety of applications. One of Roland's designs was to build a guitar with a synthesizer sort of built into it. This worked with a guitar with 10 buttons on it that plugged into a Roland unit where the sounds could be processed. The problem with this is that you would have to buy both the guitar and synthesizer together as a package for either one to work.
Today Roland produces several items in the music industry. They produce amplifiers, mixers, digital drum sets, effects, pedals, and other products. They have produced both tube and solid-state amps during the 1980s and 1990s. At the 2002 Summer NAMM show, Roland re-released their Cube 15 and their Cube 30, which are little solid-state guitar amps, but the effects on them are unbelievable.
