Amplifiers previoulsy produced in Okemos, MI, Flint, MI and Lansing, MI between 1965 and 2015.
Dave West started producing West amplifiers in 1965. He operated a small Hi-Fi shop in Flint, MI that sold McIntosh, Dynaco, Acoustic Research, and Klipsch brands. Dick Wagner of the Bossmen came in and wanted to get JBL speakers. West arranged a meeting with the JBL rep and ordered a large amount of JBL speakers, which was a huge financial risk at the time. One day, a Sunn amp was shipped to his shop and he took the amp apart to inspect it. He realized he had all the components inside the amp, so why not try to produce them under his own name and make some money. West Laboratories moved to Lansing, MI in the late 1960s, and continued to produce amplifiers until 1972. In 2005, West started West Laboratories again featuring different amps then he produced in the 1960s and early 1970s. Most amps are custom orders.
