Amplifiers previously produced in Japan, China, Korea, and Taiwan during the late 1980s and 1990s. Distributed by Fernandes Guitars International Inc., in Chatsworth, CA. The Fernandes trademark was established in 1969, and they currently produce a variety of electric guitars and basses.
Fernandes has been building guitars overseas since 1969. For a full history on Fernandes, refer to the Blue Book of Electric Guitars. In the late 1980s, Fernandes introduced three entry level amplifiers. They continued to produce amplifiers throughout the 1990s further expanding their line. In the mid-1990s, Fernandes purchased HIWATT and in 1999, they discontinued production of all Fernandes amplifiers and concentrated on developing/producing HIWATT products. By 2000, HIWATT amplifiers were featured on Fernandes guitar price lists. Many catalogs in the late 1990s and early 2000s feature a double listing of Fernandes guitars and HIWATT amplifiers. In the 2000s, Fernandes offered the Skel-Zo, which is shaped like the popular Nomad guitar. Currently Fernandes only offers a small 10W practice amp as part of their guitar packages, and their built-in amp Nomad models. For more information, visit Fernandes or HIWATT's website or contact the company directly.
