MARLIN
Instruments previously produced in Korea between 1989 and the late 1990s, and East Germany prior to 1989.
The Marlin trademark was originally the brand name of a UK importer. The first Sidewinder and Slammer series were medium quality strat-styled solid body guitars built in East Germany. When production moved to Korea, the models changed to Blue Fin, Master Class, State of the Art, Loner, and Nastie designations. In 1989, a variation of the trademark appeared. Headstocks now bore a "Marlin by Hohner" description. Later models are mainly entry-level guitar copies. Source: Tony Bacon and Paul Day, The Guru's Guitar Guide.
