Instruments currently built in Tallahassee, FL since 1996. Distributed by Dodge Guitars of Tallahassee, FL.
Rick Dodge apprenticed to master stringed instrument maker Paris Bancetti in the mid-1970s, and has been a luthier for over 20 years, making both acoustic and electric guitars for personal use and for friends and family. Each guitar was carefully crafted from fine woods, and guitars made by Dodge achieved high quality aesthetics and sound. After building many electric guitars and experimenting with different electronic configurations, Dodge was struck with the idea of making a modular guitar that could completely exchange the electronics without sacrificing the high quality sound or beauty of a fine instrument. Dodge then developed the idea of a rear-mounted modular system: the pickups and electronics would be mounted on a section that could be inserted into the body area. Rick Dodge formed the Dodge Guitar Company in the spring of 1996. Production of the modular guitars began in September, 1996, (Company information courtesy Janice Dodge, July, 1996).
