RICHTER
Acoustic guitars previously produced in Chicago, IL during the 1930s. See chapter on House Brands.
The Richter trademark has been identified as a House Brand of Montgomery Wards. These guitars were built by the Richter Manufacturing Company in Chicago, IL during the 1930s. Most Richters are small bodied acoustics with relatively simple appointments. One example was found by Earl Oliver, and he claims that the guitar was built out of lesser materials, but the craftsmanship is excellent throughout the instrument. Dating is very precise as there is a physical date stamped in the guitar but no evidence of a serial number. Source: Bob Smith and Earl Oliver.
