Instruments currently built in Islip, NY, since 1976.
Luthier John Monteleone has been building guitars and mandolins since the mid-1970s. A contemporary of James D'Aquisto, Monteleone performed repair and restoration work for a number of years while formulating his own archtop designs. Monteleone's archtop guitars feature such unique ideas as a flush-set truss rod cover, recessed tuning machine retainers, and a convex radius headstock.
