Gerhard Almcrantz started producing guitars and mandolins around 1895, in Chicago, Illinois. He apparently had a patent for a detachable neck. He joined up with a partner, Gideon Tornquist, to produce some other products, and made guitars until about 1905. An Almcrantz acoustic guitar bearing a label reading "July 1895" was featured in the first edition of Tom WheelerĀ“s reference book American Guitars (HarperCollins Publishers, New York). Source Larry Myers. Due to the extreme age and rarity of these guitars, a used price has not been established.
